PSG Defeats Olympique de Marseille on Penalties to Claim French Super Cup in Kuwait.
The Parisian club has now won the season-opening trophy on 14 separate occasions.
The Parisian giants required a dramatic equaliser followed by a perfect penalty shootout to overcome their arch-rivals in Kuwait and secure a fourth straight French Super Cup victory.
The European champions appeared to be coasting towards a straightforward triumph in the match featuring the Ligue 1 champions and the French Cup winners after the French winger opened the scoring in the opening stages.
Yet, the southern French side struck two times late to take a shock advantage. First, the English forward scored from the penalty spot, before the defender inadvertently turned the ball into his own net for an own goal.
In a breathtaking twist of events, Goncalo Ramos grabbed a vital equaliser in the dying seconds to force the match into a penalty shootout. PSG goalkeeper Lucas Chevalier then emerged as the hero, saving decisive kicks from Matt O'Riley and Hamed Traore.
From the spot, Ramos, the midfielder, the full-back, and Desire Doue all scored successfully for Paris Saint-Germain to complete a 4-1 shootout win.
Now 14-time champions Paris Saint-Germain, who faced last season's Ligue 1 runners-up Marseille after completing a league and cup double, have now lifted this trophy for the 12th time in the past thirteen seasons.
